| What questions are raised on the gender? |
- The boys get more opportunities compared to girls
- Girls are withdrawn early from the schools after adolescent age
- Girls are not encouraged to participate in many activities except household courses
- The environment in schools and families are not conducive for education of girls
- Boys are given priority in providing opportunities i.e. they are sent to English medium schools
These trends are considerably reduced due to the efforts of SSA.Various interventions for the promotion of girls education under NPEGEL were carried out through 393 MCS (Model Cluster Schools) functional in 31 EBBs. Many activities of Non-NPEGEL &MeenaProgramme are helpful increases the literacy level of girls. NPEGEL is focused intervention to reach the hardest to reach girls, specially those who are not in school while continuing the efforts to retain the girls who are already in schools.NPEGEL Programme is implemented in 31 Educationally Backward Blocks (EBBs). There are rural female literacy which is less than national average and gender gap is above national level.
